What an incredible few hours those were while all us fans were anticipating the presentation of the World Series Trophy. The SkyDome stands and the stage was a such a flurry of activity. Everyone was so excited you could hardly think.
Day after day until the World Series Trophy was presented to the new Champions, Toronto was filled with exurberance like never before. It was sheer ecstasy as we all joined in celebrating the Blue Jays victory over the Atlanta Braves. The atmosphere at the SkyDome on that day of the presentations was like a fantasy in outer space landing on a new planet where you could just walk right out and breath the fresh air. For the 1st time ever, the grounds of the SkyDome field were accessible to the public around the stage area and people were generally free to roam everywhere they wished. The players were so relaxed and enjoyed turning up for the presentations in their casual clothes. The atmosphere was full of great vibes.
Suddenly history was in the making and those of us who were there knew this was a once in a lifetime occasion that could never be repeated. We all know the first time is a very special occasion.
No moment in the sports history of City of Toronto has ever equaled, with the amount of fan support, this MONUMENTAL OCCASION when The TORONTO BLUE JAYS received the recognition they so well deserved.
More people than ever before (and it may ever again happen) filled the SkyDome on that illustrious day when we cheered and cheered as each of the heroes came up on to the stage to say some words of thanks to the City of Toronto, the fans, the wives and everyone else, especially Mr. Cito Gaston who had brought it all to home plate.
This above image is 11 inches high and 17 inches wide, in our special historical issue. It too makes a nice pull out for framing.
